GRIM DECEMBER

Welcome to My Author Portfolio

From the age of six years old, I have always had an intense passion for writing, world-building, and expressing my imagination and pushing beyond the bounds of reality. I consider my writing style to be unique, timeless, and complex. My writing is better suited to an older audience due to the more mature subjects I explore as well as the style of writing that I bring to the table.

Ernest Hemingway

"There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed."

Eternal Sleep

"Her beautiful, silvery orbs appraised me lovingly. I was struck by how compassionate she seemed toward me. Raising her fingers to my chin, the rest of her elegant figure appeared, dressed in a midnight black to rival the canvas of the stars. She was no demon—she was a beautiful woman with raven hair and a porcelain complexion framed by silvery eyes and ruby lips. She was statuesque and strong—she looked exactly like me."

Lonely Kindness

"A drop of winter's breath to greet me in the morning had been all that I needed to realize that nothing was as bitter as loneliness in the darkest part of the year. I longed for the touch of sunshine's fine kiss and the warmth of the summer's embrace. This season was always the harshest to me—it never forgave me and left me shivering in the wake of its thunderous white shadows and icy daggers."

Insolence

Hybris was named for the greek goddess of rebellion and insolence; as such, when she graduates high school, she leaves as a highly intelligent reject with a scholarship to an ivy league college and the disapproval of her parents and spoiled younger sister. The story begins with her graduation day, when she bids goodbye to everything she knows in favor of the harsh, adult world that awaits her beyond the prison she's been at for so long. The only problem is this creepy house in the woods that she stumbles across when she leaves graduation early, diploma secured and her worries expounding. When the darkness settles in and she has no choice but to stay there to weather out the night, she wonders what might be lurking in the house: the nothingness of a century passed or something else...?

Speak and Listen

A collection of poetry that I've put up on Wattpad. I likely won't publish these, as they are more dedicated to the vein of catharsis and healing.

A Mountain Above

For the Mind Over Matter Contest, I've created a short story about how I've personally overcome my negative, internal monologues to create a more positive outlook on life, as well as move forward beyond the darkness that has ensnared me as it does many in our individual walks of life. This is based more or less on an experience I had where I was assaulted after meeting someone online that went to my school and agreeing to meet for coffee. Though I've kept the description to a minimum, please be wary if you have any triggers that might rear up at having read such a thing. The whole source of my negative voices was as a result of having been in an abusive friendship/relationship for a larger majority of my childhood that left me thinking that I was worth nothing. His voice of destruction still haunts me to this day sometimes, but I wanted to share this time that I managed to ignore that voice and get myself out of harms way. Stay strong my friends; read away! I hope you all enjoy it, despite its more negative themes.
